Our classic polar bear photography trip but with a new twist for 2026 (and extra day of bear viewing).  Getting to Churchill can be difficult so we try make it as easy as possible by putting everything together in one convenient package.  

This tour is not physically demanding but may require long periods of standing outside in potentially cold and windy weather, mobility enough to efficiently climb into our 4x4 vans, and the patience to wait for good photo opportunities.  

On our tours we do not race around to see as many bears as possible, preferring instead to find and spend time observing individual bears or families for extended periods allowing for more photo opportunities and interesting behaviours.  

During October and November we partner with multiple local B&B's in Churchill to provide accommodation.   These accommodations are clean,  comfortable, and warm with a shared bathroom.  Each house has 3 or 4 bedrooms leaving only one single supplement available per departure.  

After breakfast (time varies depending on available daylight) we head out into the field to look  for bears.  Transportation is via 4x4 van comfortably holding 5 people with extra room in the back for gear.  On any given day we will have multiple vehicles out looking for wildlife all connected via radio to share information and coordinate in the field.  

Day 1 – Arrive Winnipeg at any time, check-in to airport Courtyard Marriott
Day 2 – Fly to Churchill, check-in to accommodation, trip orientation
Day 3 – Looking for wildlife
Day 4 – Looking for wildlife
Day 5 – Looking for wildlife
Day 6 – Looking for wildlife
Day 7 – Another day in the field looking for wildlife before an evening flight back to Winnipeg. Check in to airport Courtyard Marriott.  
Day 8 – Depart for home at any time

October departures are ideal for photographers looking:

-to beat the crowds
-to have a better chance of seeing northern lights

-for bears not on snow 

-not to be so dang cold
